NEWS 17 Musical reunion Church marks milestone SOME honoured guests were on hand when the Millicent Baptist Church’s Mainly Music program marked its 10th birthday. Among the well-wishers was Natalie Smith, who helped with the program in its earlier times, and Allison Jennings whose four children participated in the program from its inception in 2004 until the end of last year. Her children, Emily, Sam, Paddy and Will, enjoyed the the weekly program in their preschool years. “I joined the Mainly Music program as I was invited to come along to the very first session,” Ms Jennings said. “It gave me an opportunity to bond with other parents. “It was a supportive time and I felt welcomed.” Established in 1990, Mainly Music is active across Australia in churches of various denominations. It is a fun music group for parents and caregivers enjoyed together with their young children. Throughout each session, children develop language, imagination, mathematical and pre-reading skills and socialise with others. Children are introduced to music, creativity and more, plus families are given a chance to reflect on religious themes.
