Kintore wards a series of questions on key community issues. Their four answers will be published in the lead up to the end of the election. NEWS 5 additional tourists to the area? CORCORAN WARD KINTORE WARD Peter Dunnicliff TOURISM is an essential part of Kintore Ward with it diverse interests and activities on offer. Steve Davies MILLICENT has no hope for a tourist led recovery. The best that the CEO, mayor, planners, engineers and economic development officer have come up with is to stick a sign up at Canunda Frontage Road to look at inefficient wind towers that, like weeds, are everywhere else across the planet. We should be working to our strengths. We have a world class effluent system and waste recycling centre, aged care, cheap housing and an egalitarian, peaceful population. Millicent is practical, safe and temperate, a short drive to tourist destinations such as Robe and Penola. Newcomers have worked this out for themselves. Kathleen Galvin THE role council can play needs to be informed by learning from what we already do well such as community consultation, research on case studies of what has worked elsewhere, clarification on who our target tourists are and what they are looking for and importantly ongoing cost/ benefit analysis (the costs to our ratepayers and community against benefits to our ratepayers and community). Encourage creative and innovative ideas to be considered and evaluated. Continue to promote pride in what we have done well and being open and willing to learn how we can do things better and/or differently. Many tourists have told me they wish they knew of Beachport before booking holidays at other nearby towns, so we must establish a strategy to attract these travellers. Advertising through popular mediums is necessary, both state and nation wide. We must keep the towns in Kintore Ward environment and infrastructure in clean and attractive condition, because word of mouth is a significant influence among travellers. Signs and information at strategic positions around the ward play an important role for the first time visitor. RICHMOND PARK WHITE SUFFOLK MULGUNDAWA POLL DORSET 300+ STUD & FLOCK RAMS Martin Sullivan THIS is my main and strongest reason for running for council. Firstly council must fully agree that tourism needs to take top priority. A master plan for Millicent needs to be agreed and “rail-roaded” through planning without excuses or delay. Such a plan could and should include a huge amount of public art, murals, sculptures and art walks as to identify Millicent as a must visit art town. The youth and seniors alike can join local artists to work together to see Millicent accelerate to an overwhelming success. The cost is tiny and the benefits to everyone are absolutely huge. 2 TODAY YOU SPRING CLEANED UP THE SAVINGS $ 87 SAVE UP $ 17 TO $ Coopers Pale Ale Bottles 24x375ml OR Gage Atomic Pale Ale Bottles 24x330ml PRICE 1/2 $ 27 4 ^ 2896 SAVE $ 43 EACH SAVE UP $ 8 TO Purchase ONE bottle of Villa Maria Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 750ml PLUS THREE bottles of Tangaroa Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 750ml for $27 Jim Beam Devil’s Cut Bourbon, Tanqueray Gin OR Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum 700ml Deb Agnew I BELIEVE the Wattle Range Council area offers some of the best experiences within the Limestone Coast. We have amazing opportunities with an existing world renowned wine location, magnificent coastlines, picturesque scenery from coast to border with unique small communities and our amazing clean and green pastures and primary production. 21st Annual Sale Mon 13th Oct, 2014 RICHMOND PARK, ROBE SA AUCTION at 1PM (SA TIME) Email: emburz@bigpond.com Brucellosis Acc.
