WATTLE Range Council’s election has been disrupted by the withdrawal of one of its youngest candidates from electioneering. Penola resident Sharon Jackson was challenging sitting councillors Dean Burrow and Rob Thornett for the two vacancies on Riddoch Ward. However, last week, Ms Jackson announced that a change in her personal circumstances meant she would not be able to take up her seat if she was elected. The 41-year-old has now recommended that voters support the two other candidates. Under the Electoral Act, the name of Ms Jackson remains on the ballot papers, which have been in circulation for the past week with the postal ballot closing on November 7. www.thesoutheasterntimes.com.au HISTORY AWARDED: The Millicent National Trust Living History Museum volunteers Louise Hyland, Noel Boyle, Jim Hyland and president David Botting celebrate the museum’s win at the 2014 South Australian Regional Awards on Friday night.
