The victim became drowsy, went to sleep and woke up unwell a while later. He went home and became uncontrollable, smashing picture frames from walls and hurting his hand in the process. The court heard Anderson had been abusing cannabis and methamphetamine for a number of years and had been taking drugs with the victim on previous occasions. He was convicted on July 16 last year and placed on a good behaviour bond after police discovered a hunting knife in his car. However, the N-Bomb incident with his friend became a turning point for Anderson, prompting him to stop abusing drugs on New Year’s Day this year. In handing down sentence, Judge Barry Beazley said the drug posed a danger to the public and those who consume the substance. He said it was to Anderson’s credit that he stopped abusing drugs and was deeply remorseful for his actions. “I’m sure it has been a complete shock to you and your family,” Mr Beazley told Anderson. He sentenced Anderson to three years and three months in prison, reducing the sentence by 30pc to two years and three months behind bars. Mr Beazley suspended the sentence on condition of the defendant entering into a 24-month good behaviour bond and a $1000 fine. He ordered 18 months of the bond to be spent under supervision of a community corrections officer and fixed a non-parole period of 13 months. “What has saved you is your age and the fact that you have already started your rehabilitation process,” Mr Beazley told Anderson. 665906 656592
