Port MacDonnell began the second term with determination and moved the ball quickly into goal shooter Tamara Ferguson who finished off well. Both Brooke Hawkins and Belinda Scott held their own in the defensive circle, making possession difficult for Megan Allan and Kelsey Wight. However, Hatherleigh’s Annabel Brooks made life easier for her goalies by using her pace to hit the circle and pass with precision. Brooks’ combination with Erin Watson was well executed, but their opponents in the Demons’ Megan Hein and Michelle Moore applied pressure and took a number of handy intercepts which influenced the score. The sea-side team managed to have the upper hand at the main break, leading by six goals. Port MacDonnell continued its stellar form in the third and managed to add to the scoreboard in the first few minutes. However, it was the Eagles who found their second wind, pouncing on loose balls and finishing off well to win the quarter by four. In a sea-sawing game it was the Demons who earned the points after an impressive finish which saw them come out comfortable winners. In the second term the Mozzies were unchanged, but Tantanoola adjusted, with Talana Knaggs entering at wing defence and Casey Arney into wing attack. The changes worked in the Tigers’ favour who managed to score a few quick goals to bring the margin to two. Mount Burr continued to make errors, while Tantanoola’s goalie Jami Walker became a focal point for her side, scoring 12 goals for the quarter. Although the Mozzies looked as though they were falling behind they did not give up hope and worked hard to bring the scores back to level. Entering the final term the scores were close, but it was the Tigers who managed to deal with the pressure. Tantanoola’s goalies finished well, while Mount Burr missed a number of vital shots, allowing the Tigers to have the upper hand. Kongorong took the lead early in the match and managed a four-goal lead at the first break. The Magpies made one change, putting Leah Ousey back to keeper in an attempt to restrict Sanderson’s impact on the game.
