It is believed the man was riding his motorcycle south on Coleraine-Edenhope Road near Harrow-Balmoral Road when he lost control and crashed into a tree around 2.10pm. The 53-year-old rider died at the scene. Hamilton highway patrol Sergeant Scott Williams said the man had just traveled through a set of roadworks and lost control at a right hand bend shortly after. “He went through some roadworks, continued on his way and failed to navigate a sweeping right hand turn, causing him to crash into a tree,” Sgt Williams said. He said the exact circumstances of the crash are still being investigated, but police are following up a number of leads. It is the second fatality to occur in the area in less than a week after a Penola man died when he crashed his car into a tree near Warrock on Friday. The latest fatality takes this year’s Victorian road toll to 57 compared to 78 at the same time last year.
