GOLD CUP CARNIVAL MOUNT GAMBIER HARD RECORD TO BEAT: The Michael O’Leary trained galloper Evenmoreaction was retired last week after winning 11 country cups, 10 of those here in the Limestone Coast. DAVID GILBERT MOUNT Gambier cup day tomorrow will not seem quite the same without the veteran local stayer Evenmoreaction in the cup field. The Michael O’Leary trained gelding has run in four of the last five Mount Gambier cups and, strangely, it is one race that has eluded him during his eight year racing career. His best effort in our biggest race was second to Swooper back in 2012. Evenmoreaction was retired only last week after a wonderful career which saw him win 11 country cups, 10 of those here in the Limestone Coast. After winning his first country cup at Murtoa in Victoria in October, 2011, Evenmoreaction went on to be a THURSDAY 11TH & FRIDAY 12TH MAY 2017 ALLAN SCOTT GLENBURNIE RACECOURSE Cup winner retired household name in Limestone Coast racing, and his final record of local cup wins will probably never be bettered. He goes to the retirement paddock a winner here in the South East of three Millicent cups, three Penola cups, two Mount Gambier Summer cups, a Naracoorte cup and a Coonawarra cup. From 70 starts, Evenmoreaction won 18 races, was second on 13 occasions and placed 8 times for total prizemoney of $433,114.
