20 - The South Eastern Times, Tuesday, April 1, 2014 www.thesoutheasterntimes.com.au 20 MID SOUTH EAST NETBALL OPTIONS: Kalangadoo's Mikaila Pitt looks for a lead. Kalangadoo 70 d Glencoe 56 WHEN Kalangadoo and Glencoe lined up for the first match of the round, both teams had some new faces in their line ups. Ebony McDiarmid and Kelly Aubert hit the court at GS and GA respectively for Glencoe, with Sarah Kasparian playing at the other end of the court in the GK position. Both sides had juniors in Mikaila Pitt (Kalangadoo) and Laura Edwards (Glencoe) and they certainly proved their ability at the top level. Glencoe hit the lead early, scoring the first three goals of the game and looked confident and comfortable shooting long range shots. Kalangadoo took a while to settle, but converted well, scoring 19 from 20 attempts in the first quarter and went into the first break with a three goal lead. The second quarter started in similar fashion to the first, with Kalangadoo making an uncharac- teristic turnover to begin. However, the defensive pressure lifted and Kalangadoo scored some quick goals. Caroline Davey stepped up and scored 16 goals for the quarter through some nice feeds from Jenna Pitt and Jayde Peacock, while Ebony McDiarmid scored 10 goals for Glencoe. Rebecca Wilson (WD) continued to play tight checking defence and made Jenna Pitt work hard for every posses- sion, however Kalangadoo managed to stretch its lead out to 11 goals by half time, with Melissa Russell shooting at 100pc accuracy for the first half. The third quarter was an even affair and Glencoe seemed to get the better of Kalangadoo at times, fighting back to be within five goals halfway through the quarter. Donna Jaeschke and Sarah Kasparian were causing some head- aches for the Kalangadoo attack. Rebounds continued to be hard to come by with just three Kalangadoo misses for the quarter. Amanda Casey read the ball well at the other end of the court and together with Leah Ousey managed to get a number of turnovers, but the Glencoe pressure out of defence meant that the ball was often turned over again before Kalangadoo could capitalise. Kalangadoo maintained its 11 goal lead going into the last quarter and ended up running out the game to win by a margin of 14. Glencoe showed good intensity for the match, however could not compete with the accuracy of the Kalangadoo goalies and the strength and smart play of Jayde Peacock through the centre. Best -- Kalangadoo: Jenna Pitt and Jayde Peacock; Glencoe: Laura Edwards and Ebony McDiarmid. Before you call to place your tips, make sure you have your registration number, pin number and tipping code ready. You will form your tipping code from the weekly draw printed in The South Eastern Times each Tuesday. You must use the weekly draw in The South Eastern Times as the order of the games printed is the same as programmed into the computerised 1900 phone number and may vary from another fixture card. For each game listed, select your winner by writing down a number one if it is the first team mentioned or a number two if it is the second team mentioned. The number three represents a draw. For example: If the first game listed is Essendon v Adelaide and you choose Essendon, then the first number in your tipping code will be the number one. If you choose Adelaide to win, it would be number two. After making your choices you should end up with a tipping code consisting of eight numbers that looks something like this 1,1,1,2,2,1,1,2. Each week one of the matches will be highlighted and for this game you must pick a winning points margin. When you ring the 1900 number you will be asked to use the keypad on your phone to punch in your registration number, your pin number, your eight digit tipping code and your winning points margin. It is important to have this information ready before you call because the 1900 system is set up with a five second allowance between each keypad entry and will cut out if you take too long. This means you will have to ring again and cost you another call. Please wait for the beep after each voice prompt before entering the appropriate numbers. If you make a mistake or wish to change your tips you will need to phone again. The system will record your new tips and erase any previous entry. The 1900 number is open 24 hours but will shut down 30 minutes (SA time) prior to the start of the first match in each round and no further tips will be accepted until all matches in that round have been played. If you have any problems accessing the 1900 number please check that your phone is switched to tone and that your service provider does not have a bar on 1900 numbers for your phone.
