NEWS 23 Local business support pays off Lucky shopper wins $1000 for getting behind South East retail sector ANOTHER winner was chosen in the South East this week as a recipient of $1000 after shopping at Mount Gambier Safety Supplies. Mount Gambier’s Bronwyn Johnston said she previously “never won anything” when she entered the Shop Local to Win campaign draw. Bronwyn received a text message a few weeks later stating she had won the $1000 Bendigo Bank account after shopping in Mount Gambier. The competition is a joint initiative of The South Eastern Times, the Mount Gambier and District Community Bank and South East businesses. People can complete an entry form after shopping at one of the selected local businesses and a winner will be drawn each week. Ms Johnston said she was looking for- ward to spending the money and would put some of the funds towards a small holiday. “I still cannot believe I won,” she said. “It was certainly a surprise, I didn’t think I had a chance of winning.” Mount Gambier Safety Supplies manager Bob Sandow said it was a great initiative which supported businesses across the Limestone Coast. Mount Gambier and District Community Bendigo Bank customer service supervisor Jo Gillespie congratulated Ms Johnston on the win. “Our bank does fantastic work giving back to its community and this competition is a great way we can do that while encouraging people to shop local,” she said. “It’s exciting to be part of the initiative and we are proud to be a partner in the campaign.” I Thursday May 22 I SEVEN Sa TEN Sa 6.00 Sunrise.
