Millicent CLASS MAKING CUPPAS COUNT: Bridget Wilkinson, Joanne Leyden and Christine Try made up part of the 50-strong crowd who joined CLASS Day Services for their Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser last week. Day Services program participants hosted the morning tea, serving up an array of delicious pastries and cakes to attendees. CLASS South East team leader Clare Johnston was close to tears when she addressed the crowd detailing her admiration of the group’s involvement. “We’re so grateful that we are able to provide an opportunity like this for participants to be involved in and they should be really proud to see what they’ve done,” she said. “It’s amazing what can be done when everyone pulls together and we’re happy that the hard work of all our members has paid off in the way it has. “We’re overwhelmed with today’s support and with the funds raised we’re able to help in the fight against cancer and provide future options for the Parish priest given bigger flock to oversee with Limestone Coast archdeacon position MILLICENT and Penola Anglican parish priest Father Peter Carlsson has been promoted to the newly-created position of Archdeacon of the Limestone Coast. His geographic area of responsibility will span from Tintinara to Port MacDonnell with additional diocesan-wide responsibilities for the education of the clergy and the laity. Father Peter said he looked forward to working with Bishop of The Murray John Ford in the role which would be in addition to his work as a parish priest. “My parish will still be my number one priority,” he said. 4 - The South Eastern Times, Thursday, May 29, 2014 Father Peter has been based at St Mary’s Rectory at Penola since 2005 and oversees Anglican churches and congregations at Penola, Kalangadoo, Tarpeena, Millicent and Beachport. Another church role for Father Peter has been as a parttime lecturer at St Barnabas Theological College in Adelaide. He holds a Bachelor of Theology, Master of Religious Education and Master of Arts degrees, as well as the degree of Doctor of Ministry from the School of Theology at the Australian Catholic University. Originally from Queensland, his early working life was in the retail industry and he progressed through the managerial ranks of the Coles Myer group. In his mid-20s, Father Peter opted to join the Anglican order of Franciscan brothers and this took him to a number of overseas postings, including the Solomon Islands and New Zealand He was ordained to the priesthood by the then Archbishop of Brisbane in 2003 and has subsequently worked in parishes and as a school chaplain.
