Country Fire Service rushed to the Woodlands (six-acre blocks) semi-rural area of Millicent after the alarm was raised at 7.14am. The property near the intersection of Acacia Drive and Wattle Road is shrouded by vegetation and mature trees. Police, ambulance and CFS crews arrived to find a three-bedroom, wooden, demountable home fully alight. In total five CFS fire trucks attended, with around 35 firefighters using defensive techniques to stop the fire spreading to nearby shoulder-height grass. A 26-year-old man is in the J.L. ‘FRED’ SMITH fred@setimes.com.au TWO men received potentially life-threatening injuries after two boats collided at high speed during a ski race on Guichen Bay at Robe on Saturday afternoon. The pair were thrown into the water due to the impact of the collision. A 30-year-old man remains in Flinders Medical Centre in the capital city but his condition has not been released. Both men are reported to come from Sydney and were taking part in the opening day of the Fury on the Bay water ski racing event. Police and emergency services attended the crash scene at 2.15pm. Mr Sweetman said he was impressed the event organisers had provided such support personnel as marshals, security guards and ambulance officers and participants were drug-tested. He said his council supported the staging of the event with publicity and by temporarily closing roads in the vicinity of the Lake Butler Marina and supporting the storage and launching of the boats.
